A Strong Start for the Glenuig Inn Community Buyout – Let's Keep It Going!

We're pleased to share some incredible progress with the Glenuig Community Inn buyout campaign. Since launching our community share offer at the end of January, we've received £100,000 in pledges – a strong show of support from people near and far who believe in the future of the Inn. That brings us to almost halfway towards our minimum share offer target of £200,000, and it's a fantastic start.

We've also seen a great response to our crowdfunding campaign, with over £10,000 donated so far – that's more than one-fifth of the way to our £50,000 target. It's clear that the Glenuig Inn matters – not only to our local community, but to friends, visitors, and supporters across the country and beyond.

These early pledges and donations are vital. The more support we can demonstrate now, the stronger our application will be to the Scottish Land Fund (SLF) – a major source of grant funding that could help us complete the buyout.

That's why we're encouraging as many people as possible to submit their share applications before the end of March. Although the share offer remains open until 21st April 2025, early commitments give us the best chance of securing additional funding and moving forward with confidence.

And don’t worry – pledging now doesn’t mean you need to pay straight away. We’ll only be collecting payments after the share offer is closed, once other funding decisions have been confirmed and we’re ready to proceed.

Here are three simple ways you can support the buyout:

• Buy Community Shares: This is the most direct way to support the project and have a voice in its future. Shares start at £25 for local Type A members and £2,000 for Type B supporter members. Group applications are welcome for those who would like to invest together.

• Donate Directly: If you’re not in a position to become a shareholder, you can still make a difference by donating directly to Glenuig Community Inn Ltd. Every contribution counts.

• Support Our Crowdfunder: We’ve also launched a Crowdfunder to allow people to give whatever they can – no matter the amount – and to be part of the community buyout journey. We’ll be sharing updates and rewards along the way.
